If I was looking for a solid old vehicle, I would definitely look at yours, but for about $2000 to $2500, and that's because I could perform all the mechanical work to make it roadworthy, and I'd clean it up & drive it. I don't believe you can make your car as good as the '49 for $5000 IF you could sell it for $5000. Here's a 1949 Roadmaster 4 door, restored in 1990 & maintained since '90 for $10000. So do you want to do $1000-1500 worth of work on it to make it roadworthy and worth about $5000? That $1000-1500 is figuring you can unstick the engine, there's no damage to it, especially internally, and the transmission is in good drivable condition. IF you made it roadworthy, NADA says it's worth $4725. Note the operative words here - mechanically functional condition. This column does not represent a ‘parts car’ or a non-running vehicle. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. The exterior paint, trim and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. #1950 buick roadmaster fastback update
I will update and provide more pics of engine etc. I am moving it this week, am going to rebuild the master cylinder, spin the motor to make sure nothing is seized, and put some tires on it. Would really appreciate some input from anyone who is more knowledgeable than me. (I know what I paid for it but don't know what it's worth). It is for sale but I have looked around and can't find anything close to the model/condition to be able to set a fair price. I have not tried to turn the engine over but am confident it should spin. The master cylinder is frozen so I have not attempted to move it.
The property where it sits has been sold and I have to move it out. It was driven in to this shed and parked when she passed away in 1982. I purchased it from the grandson of the original owner. I purchased this barn find a few years back thinking i would have time to work on it but I was wrong.
